CCAC Claims 2024 Region 20 Championship
The CCAC Wildcats showcased their ability to overcome adversity as they battled their way to victory in the Region 20 NJCAA Division 3 Baseball Championship. Facing tough competition from Prince George’s Community College, who ended CCAC year just a season ago in Region championship showdown, the Wildcats overcame early setbacks to emerge triumphant in a thrilling three-game series. The Wild Cats were thrilled to avenge last years defeat.
In the opening game of the best-of-three series, CCAC dug themselves a hole after surrendering four runs in the second inning. Despite only giving up one run after the 2nd , they fell short, losing 5-3. However, they quickly turn things around in Game 2, staging an impressive comeback after conceding three runs before ever recording out number 2. Pitcher Luis Marquez came in for relief in 1st inning and delivered a stellar performance, pitching 8.2 innings without allowing a single hit and striking out 13 batters. With Marquez's unreal display on the mound, CCAC secured 5-3 victory, setting the stage for a Game 3 showdown.
In a winner-takes-all matchup Saturday morning, CCAC rose to the occasion, clinching the Region 20 championship with a impressive 7-3 win. Pitchers Jason Triscila and Jordan Sullivan delivered standout performances on the mound, stifling the opposing hitters and securing the victory for their team. Offensively, Jomar Carillo-Gomez led the charge with two hits and two runs scored, lifting CCAC to victory.
After rising to the occasion in the Region 20 championship, the CCAC Wildcats now shift their focus to the upcoming District championships, where they are set to host Camp Community College on May 11. CCAC looks to build off there Region 20 momentum and secure a trip to National Championships with success in the District Championship. Fueled by there recent success CCAC is thrilled for an opportunity to build off its recent winning ways!
